The Journal’s Inception

Due to a very generous donation from William Eckhardt, the founder of Eckhardt Trading Company, HOPOS entered into an agreement with the University of Chicago Press in 2010 for the production of a journal dedicated to HOPOS scholarship. At the time of its launch, the Journal’s editorial team included: Rose-Mary Sargent as Editor in Chief; Don Howard, Menachem Fisch, and Laura Snyder as Associate Editors; and Warren Schmaus as Book Review Editor. The first issue of HOPOS, The Journal of the International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science appeared in Spring 2011.
